We invite you to join us on February 26th 2027 for an exciting day of research across the health sciences. The mission of the UNLV Health Sciences Research Symposium is to advance discovery, innovation, and collaboration across the full spectrum of health-related disciplines. Through cross-disciplinary dialogue with researchers from other institutions, the symposium seeks to accelerate the development of knowledge, from the basic sciences to clinical applications. The Symposium brings together researchers, clinicians, educators, and students to share emerging evidence, exchange ideas, and foster opportunities to network and create new research directions.

Nick Stergiou, PhD

Assistant Dean and Director, Division of Biomechanics and Research Development, College of Education; Distinguished Community Research Professor and Founding Chair, Department of Biomechanics; Professor, Department of Environmental Agricultural and Occupational Health, College of Public Health, University of Nebraska Medical Center

Dr. Stergiou is a Distinguished Community Research Chair and Professor of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he also serves as Associate Dean and directs multiple research initiatives. An international authority in human movement variability and nonlinear dynamics, his work spans the lifespan and has informed clinical practice, rehabilitation, and surgical training. He has authored 300+ peer-reviewed publications and four textbooks, with over 20,000 citations. A Fellow of several leading scientific organizations, his research has been supported by more than $50 million in funding from agencies including NIH, NASA, and NSF. He is also the founding chair of the first academic Department of Biomechanics and has led the development of world-class biomechanics research facilities.
